The Malta Business Registry (MBR) has just launched the Application Programming Interface (API) packages, an initiative aimed at further strengthening digital service delivery and enhancing collaboration with Subject Persons.

In an environment where data exchange and automation are integral to operational efficiency, the MBR is establishing a framework that enables secure, reliable and scalable system-to-system integrations. This initiative is designed to support trusted data consumption, improve service responsiveness and enhance the overall client experience.

Following a comprehensive consultation with Subject Persons, the MBR launched the following API packages:

  1. Package 1 – Company Search API: Gives users the ability to search for companies using the company name or the company registration number or both. Retrieves Company Name, Registration Number, Registration Date and State of a company.
  2. Package 2 – Basic Company Details API: Retrieves Company Name, Registration Number, Registration Date, Registered Address and State of a company using the company registration number.
  3. Package 3 – Full Company Details API: Retrieves all details in Basic Company Details API plus involvements, share capital data and a list of document filings using the company registration number.
  4. Package 4 Bundle API: Gives the user access to all the 3 APIs in one application.

The adoption of MBR APIs will significantly improve interoperability by allowing Subject Persons to integrate their internal systems directly with MBR services through machine-to-machine communication, eliminating the need for manual data retrieval and processing. The APIs will support automated data exchange, real-time information access and enhanced data consistency across platforms.

Furthermore, the use of the MBR’s APIs will enable large institutions to optimise resource allocation by automating routine data queries and transactional processes. This allows human resources to be redeployed towards higher-value, analytical and compliance-focused activities, while ensuring that the daily operational data is generated and processed efficiently.

The MBR’s Chief Executive Officer and Registrar Dr Geraldine Spiteri Lucas remarked the offering of API services seals the MBR’s commitment in further bolstering digital services, reducing manual processes and increasing efficiency when providing information at real-time.  ”This initiative reinforces the MBR’s commitment to modern, data-driven public services that support regulatory compliance and improve the overall user experience. Most importantly, it puts Malta’s registry at par with other registries in terms of digital registry standards, sharing of information and real-time data and compliance support in relation to AML/CFT directives” said Dr Spiteri Lucas.

The MBR’s Chief Operations Officer and Deputy Registrar, Ms Annalise Zammit, explained that from an operational standpoint, the introduction of API packages will enable both the MBR and Subject Persons to streamline workflows through enhanced automation and interoperability.

“This long-awaited initiative will significantly facilitate the day-to-day implementation of AML/CFT obligations by Subject Persons. By enabling access to real-time registry information, institutions can optimise resource allocation, improve processing efficiency and redirect human expertise to higher-value, analytical and risk-focused activities,” said Ms Zammit. She further noted that this initiative forms an integral part of the MBR’s broader digital transformation strategy. “The deployment of API services supports the MBR’s objective of becoming a paperless entity, while simultaneously encouraging Subject Persons to modernise and strengthen their digital infrastructure in an environment that is increasingly data-driven” said Ms Zammit.

It-tnedija tal-pakketti tal-API mill-MBR għall-Persuni Suġġetti

Ir-Reġistru tan-Negozju ta’ Malta (MBR) għadu kif nieda l-pakketti tal-Interfaċċa għall-Ipprogrammar tal-Applikazzjonijiet (API), inizjattiva mmirata biex issaħħaħ aktar is-servizzi diġitali u ttejjeb il-kollaborazzjoni ma’ persuni suġġetti kif definit mil-liġi.

F’ambjent fejn it-tqassim ta’ informazzjoni u l-awtomatizzazzjoni huma integrali għall-effiċjenza operattiva, l-MBR qed jistabbilixxi qafas li jippermetti integrazzjonijiet siguri, affidabbli u skalabbli minn sistema għal sistema. Din l-inizjattiva hija mfassla biex tappoġġja b’fiduċja l-konsum tad-dejta, ittejjeb ir-rispons tas-servizz u ttejjeb l-esperjenza ġenerali tal-klijent.

Wara konsultazzjoni komprensiva, l-MBR nieda dawn il-pakketti tal-API:

  1. Pakkett 1 – API għat-Tiftix tal-Kumpaniji: Jagħti lill-utenti l-abbiltà li jfittxu kumpaniji bl-użu tal-isem tal-kumpanija jew in-numru ta’ reġistrazzjoni tal-kumpanija jew it-tnejn. Jikseb l-Isem tal-Kumpanija, in-Numru ta’ Reġistrazzjoni, id-Data tar-Reġistrazzjoni u l-Istat tal-kumpanija.
  2. Pakkett 2 – API għad-Dettalji Bażiċi tal-Kumpanija: Jikseb l-Isem tal-Kumpanija, in-Numru tar Reġistrazzjoni, id-Data tarReġistrazzjoni, l-Indirizz Reġistrat u l-Istat tal-kumpanija, bl-użu tan-numru tar-reġistrazzjoni tal-kumpanija.
  3. Pakkett 3 – API għad-Dettalji Sħaħ tal-Kumpanija: Jikseb id-dettalji kollha fl-API tad-Dettalji Bażiċi tal-Kumpanija flimkien mal-involviment, id-dejta tal-kapital azzjonarju u l-lista tad-dokumenti sottomessi, bl-użu tan-numru tar-reġistrazzjoni tal-kumpanija.
  4. Pakkett 4 – Bundle API: Jippermetti lill-utent aċċess għat-tliet APIs kollha f’applikazzjoni waħda.

L-użu tal-MBR APIs se jtejjeb b’mod sinifikanti l-interoperabbiltà billi tippermetti lill-Persuni Suġġetti jintegraw is-sistemi interni tagħhom direttament mas-servizzi tal-MBR permezz ta’ komunikazzjoni minn sistems għal sistema, u b’hekk telimina l-ħtieġa għall-irkupru u l-ipproċessar manwali tal-informazzjoni. L-APIs se jappoġġjaw l-iskambju awtomatizzat u aċċess għall-informazzjoni f’ħin reali, b’informazzjoni konsistenti bejn il-pjattaformi.

Barra minn hekk, l-użu tal-APIs tal-MBR se jippermetti aħjar l-allokazzjoni tar-riżorsi billi jiġu awtomatizzati proċessi ta’ rutina tranżazzjonali, b’fokus fuq attivitajiet analitiċi, ta’ valur ogħla u ta’ konformità, filwaqt li jiżgura li l-informazzjoni operattiva ta’ kuljum tiġi ġġenerata u pproċessata b’mod effiċjenti.

L-Uffiċjal Kap Eżekuttiv u r-Reġistratur tal-MBR, Dr Geraldine Spiteri Lucas, irrimarkat li l-offerta tas-servizzi tal-APIs tissiġilla l-impenn tal-MBR biex ikompli jsaħħaħ is-servizzi diġitali, jnaqqas il-proċessi manwali u jżid l-effiċjenza meta jipprovdi informazzjoni f’ħin reali. “Din l-inizjattiva ssaħħaħ l-impenn tal-MBR għal servizzi pubbliċi moderni u mmexxija mid-dejta, li jappoġġjaw il-konformità regolatorja u jtejbu l-esperjenza ġenerali tal-utent. L-aktar importanti, tpoġġi lir-reġistru ta’ Malta fuq l-istess livell ta’ reġistri oħra f’termini ta’ standards ta’ reġistri diġitali, kondiviżjoni ta’ informazzjoni f’ħin reali u appoġġ għall-konformità fir-rigward tad-direttivi kontra l-ħasil tal-flus u l-iffinanzjar tat-terroriżmu” qalet Dr Spiteri Lucas.

L-Uffiċjal Kap tal-Operazzjonijiet u d-Deputat Reġistratur tal-MBR, Annalise Zammit, spjegat li minn perspettiva operattiva, l-introduzzjoni tal-pakketti tal-APIs se tippermetti kemm lill-MBR kif ukoll lill-Persuni Suġġetti jissimplifikaw l-influss tax-xogħol permezz ta’ awtomatizzazzjoni u interoperabbiltà aħjar. “Din l-inizjattiva tant mistennija se tiffaċilita b’mod sinifikanti l-implimentazzjoni ta’ kuljum tal-obbligi fil-ġlieda kontra l-ħasil tal-flus u l-iffinanzjar tat-terroriżmu. Bl-aċċess għall-informazzjoni tar-reġistru f’ħin reali, l-istituzzjonijiet jistgħu issa jottimizzaw aħjar l-allokazzjoni tar-riżorsi, itejbu l-effiċjenza tal-ipproċessar u jidderieġu mill-ġdid ir-riżorsa umana lejn attivitajiet ta’ valur ogħla, analitiċi u ffukati fuq ir-riskju,” qalet Annalise Zammit. Hija nnutat ukoll li din l-inizjattiva tifforma parti integrali mill-istrateġija usa’ tat-trasformazzjoni diġitali tal-MBR. “L-implimentazzjoni tas-servizzi tal-APIs jappoġġja l-għan tal-MBR li ssir entità li tnaqqas l-użu tal-karti, filwaqt li fl-istess ħin jinkoraġġixxi lill-Persuni Suġġetti biex jimmodernizzaw u jsaħħu l-infrastruttura diġitali tagħhom f’ambjent li qed isir dejjem aktar ibbażat  fuq l-informazzjoni,” qalet Annalise Zammit.
